Solvay stock enters the weekly balance after weaker third-quarter profitability and a new rare-earth supply agreement. Guidance remains unchanged.

Results and rare-earth strategy

  • Third-quarter underlying net sales fell organically, while the Middle East conflict and weaker soda ash demand weighed on operations.
  • Solvay secured long-term rare-earth feedstock from Viridis for its La Rochelle plant, with shipments expected to start in 2028.
  • Management maintained its revised 2026 guidance for underlying EBITDA and free cash flow.

Solvay reported weaker third-quarter profitability on Wednesday, November 4, while advancing its rare-earth strategy with a long-term supply agreement signed with Viridis. The company said the Middle East conflict and continued weakness in soda ash weighed on operations.

Underlying net sales reached 1,031 million euros in the third quarter, down 3.3 percent organically from a year earlier. Underlying EBITDA fell 26.6 percent organically to 173 million euros, with the margin declining to 16.8 percent.

Solvay attributed about 25 million euros of the EBITDA decline to the Middle East conflict, including the temporary suspension of its Peroxides plant at the Sadara complex in Jubail, Saudi Arabia. The comparison was also affected by about 40 million euros of proceeds from the sale of carbon dioxide emissions rights in the third quarter of 2025.

Rare-earth supply secured

Under the agreement announced on November 4, Viridis will supply mixed rare-earth feedstock from its Colossus project in Brazil to Solvay's La Rochelle facility in France. Shipments are expected to begin in 2028, and the initial term runs through 2034.

The agreement covers feedstock including neodymium, praseodymium, dysprosium and terbium, which are used in permanent magnets. Solvay also holds a right of first offer on remaining production, while a separate technology and technical-support arrangement remains under discussion.

Solvay stock traded at 24.35 euros on Lang & Schwarz at 12:29 CET on Saturday, November 7, 2026. Investors can follow the real-time quote of Solvay stock.

Outlook remains in focus

Solvay kept its revised 2026 outlook, calling for underlying EBITDA of 720 million to 740 million euros and free cash flow from continuing operations of 120 million to 150 million euros, net of transformation expenses. Structural cost savings reached 283 million euros in the quarter, with the company targeting 300 million euros by the end of 2026.

The board also approved an interim gross dividend of 0.97 euros per share, payable on January 20, 2027. The results and supply agreement were reported in Solvay's results release.
