- Strong US comparable sales helped Starbucks deliver a better operational finish to fiscal 2026.
- China's licensed joint venture reduced reported revenue and remains a key comparison factor.
- Fiscal 2027 will test margin execution, North American demand and planned store expansion.
Starbucks reported a stronger operational finish to fiscal 2026 on Thursday, October 29, but its revenue outlook remains restrained by the transition of the China business. The Associated Press said global comparable sales rose 7.2 percent in the July-September quarter, with US comparable sales up 7.7 percent.
US demand leads the recovery
Starbucks said broad-based US demand lifted traffic across age and income groups and different parts of the day. Seasonal drinks and the company's matcha platform also supported customer activity, while international comparable sales rose less than 1 percent and international traffic fell 2.8 percent.
Net revenue declined 4 percent to 9.14 billion US dollars, below the 9.2 billion US dollar analyst forecast cited by the Associated Press. The shortfall reflected lower contributions from China after Starbucks finalized a joint venture in the spring; Boyu Capital operates the stores and Starbucks retains a 40 percent interest.
Fiscal 2027 sets the next test
Starbucks expects fiscal 2027 net revenue to fall 1 percent, largely because of the China transition. Management is targeting North American comparable-sales growth of 4 percent, compared with 6.6 percent in fiscal 2026, while adjusted earnings per share of 0.80 US dollars for the latest quarter exceeded the 0.72 US dollar analyst forecast.
Starbucks stock traded at 91.64 euros on Lang & Schwarz at 16:45 CET on Monday, November 2, 2026, 0.40 percent below the Xetra close of Friday, October 30, at 92.01 euros. Compared with the 92.98 euros cited in the previous report at 13:19 CET, the quote was down 1.44 percent.
