- Strategy reported record quarterly profit as a digital-asset gain outweighed weaker software revenue.
- Andrew Kang leaves the CFO role on November 5, with Reza Virasteh scheduled to take over on January 1, 2027.
- Bitcoin holdings and capital-market access remain central factors for investors assessing the company.
Strategy enters a planned finance leadership change as investors assess record third-quarter profit against weaker software revenue. Andrew Kang steps down as chief financial officer on Thursday, November 5, after the company announced the transition alongside its results for the quarter ended September 30.
In its Q3 financial release published October 29, Strategy reported operating income of 20.91 billion US dollars, including a 20.91 billion US dollar gain on digital assets. Net income reached 19.53 billion US dollars, while diluted earnings per share came to 44.75 US dollars.
Bitcoin gains mask software pressure
Total revenue declined 3 percent year over year to 125.4 million US dollars. Gross profit was 89.6 million US dollars, with a 71 percent gross margin compared with 70 percent a year earlier. The figures leave Bitcoin valuation changes as a dominant swing factor in reported earnings, while the software business remains under pressure as customers move toward cloud subscriptions.
Strategy held 848,517 bitcoin as of October 25, representing 26 percent growth since the start of 2026. The company also said it had raised 21.23 billion US dollars of capital year to date, underscoring the importance of financing conditions to its digital-asset strategy.
Finance transition sets next milestone
Kang will remain with Strategy in an advisory capacity through December 31. President and Chief Executive Officer Phong Le will oversee the finance organization during the interim period, while Reza Virasteh, currently executive vice president of operations, is scheduled to become CFO and co-principal financial officer on January 1, 2027. Le will retain responsibility for the financial management of the Bitcoin strategy.
