- Strategy reported record third-quarter profit after a major fair-value gain on its bitcoin holdings.
- Revenue declined year over year, highlighting the contrast between the software business and the digital-asset portfolio.
- Andrew Kang is due to leave as CFO on November 5, with Reza Virasteh scheduled to take the role in January 2027.
Strategy reported record third-quarter earnings on October 29, while the bitcoin treasury company also prepared investors for a change in its finance leadership. The Financial Times company announcement said the results covered the three months ended September 30, 2026.
Strategy recorded $19.53 billion in net income, compared with $2.79 billion in the year-earlier quarter. Diluted earnings per share reached $44.75, up from $8.42. Operating income was $20.91 billion, versus $3.89 billion a year earlier.
Bitcoin Revaluation Dominates Results
The operating result included a $20.91 billion gain on digital assets. Under Strategy's accounting treatment, changes in the fair value of its bitcoin holdings flow through the income statement. The gain therefore lifted reported earnings but does not represent cash generated by selling bitcoin or by the software operation.
Revenue moved in the opposite direction. Total revenue fell to $125.4 million from $128.7 million, a 3 percent decline. Gross profit was $89.6 million, compared with $90.7 million in the year-earlier quarter, while the gross margin increased to 71 percent from 70 percent.
Strategy said it held 848,517 bitcoin as of October 25, representing 26 percent growth since the start of 2026. The company also reported $14.33 billion of bitcoin purchases year to date and said it had repurchased $2.04 billion of STRC preferred stock. Those capital-allocation decisions remain central to the investment case because common shareholders are exposed to bitcoin prices as well as debt, preferred-stock claims and future equity issuance.
CFO Handover Sets Near-Term Focus
Andrew Kang will step down as executive vice president and chief financial officer on November 5 and remain with Strategy in an advisory role through December 31. President and CEO Phong Le will oversee the finance organization and serve as principal financial officer during the interim period.
Reza Virasteh, currently executive vice president of operations, is scheduled to become CFO on January 1, 2027, and serve as co-principal financial officer alongside Le. Strategy said Kang's departure was for personal reasons and not the result of a disagreement over the company's operations, policies or practices. The handover comes as the company manages bitcoin purchases, equity offerings, debt and preferred-stock dividends.
Quote Shows Bitcoin Exposure
Strategy stock traded at 119.12 euros on Lang & Schwarz at 13:15 CET on Monday, November 2, 2026. The real-time quote of Strategy stock gives investors a current view of the euro trading line while the US listing remains the main reference market.
For investors, the quarterly headline is unusually sensitive to bitcoin prices because the fair-value gain outweighed the weaker software revenue. The upcoming CFO transition adds an execution and governance issue, while the scheduled appointment of Virasteh provides a defined next step for the finance function.
The broader S&P 500 market environment remains relevant for the US-listed shares and wider risk appetite, but Strategy's main company-specific driver is its bitcoin treasury strategy.
Investors can follow more news and analyses on Strategy stock as the CFO transition approaches and the company continues to manage its digital-asset and capital-markets strategy.
