Telkom Indonesia linked its business to a new national digital-security initiative on Wednesday, October 28, 2026. In a company release published after the Danantara Technology Innovation Investment Forum in Jakarta, Telkom said it had signed memorandums of understanding with Indonesia's National Cyber and Crypto Agency, known as BSSN, and state printer Peruri.

The agreements form part of Quantum-Safe Indonesia, an initiative also involving Danantara Indonesia. The partners are exploring technology, cryptography and cybersecurity capabilities intended to prepare organizations for risks that could emerge as quantum computing develops. Telkom's release stressed that the agreements are a strategic foundation, not a final commercial rollout.

MoUs open a long-term security program

The planned work includes discovering and cataloging cryptographic assets, assessing readiness for post-quantum cryptography, developing assessment and migration tools, strengthening cryptographic agility and expanding cybersecurity expertise. Digital-trust capabilities and related use cases are also part of the exploration.

BSSN is responsible for cybersecurity and cryptography frameworks, standards, methodology and governance. Telkom is expected to support technology development and integration, including tools for identifying cryptographic assets and assessing organizational readiness. Peruri contributes expertise in digital trust, digital identity, cybersecurity and post-quantum technology.

Danantara's role is to coordinate the wider ecosystem and examine where the capabilities could be applied across state-owned enterprises. The company release said this could include coordinating potential cross-enterprise pilots, identifying sector needs and validating implementation. Technical mechanisms, commercial models and operational responsibilities still have to be negotiated in definitive agreements.

Management frames readiness as strategic

Telkom chief executive Nanang Hendarno described quantum technology as a long-term readiness issue for the digital ecosystem. He said the collaboration should help organizations understand their cryptographic assets, assess preparedness and plan mitigation in a more structured way. The statement places the immediate focus on capability building rather than near-term revenue.

For investors, the initiative gives Telkom a role in a developing cybersecurity ecosystem and could create future opportunities in integration, digital trust and migration support. The financial contribution, timing and commercial structure remain open because the MoUs are exploratory. That limits the basis for assigning a near-term earnings impact to the announcement.
