Texas Instruments introduced two industrial communication devices on Thursday, November 5, expanding its offering for factory automation, robotics and industrial Internet of Things systems. The announcement, carried by Morningstar from PR Newswire, gives investors a new product milestone to track.

Two devices target connected factories

The TICS100MOD is a multiprotocol communications system-on-module built around TI's AM2612 microcontroller and DP83826AI Ethernet physical layer. It supports EtherCAT, EtherNet/IP and Profinet on one hardware platform, allowing engineers to change protocols through a firmware update rather than redesigning the hardware.

The TIOM2212 is a dual-channel IO-Link master for connecting sensors and actuators with higher-level Industrial Ethernet networks. It is compatible with TI's Sitara industrial networking system-on-chip family and AM13Ex real-time microcontrollers through an integrated frame handler.

Availability sets the next milestones

Preproduction quantities of the TIOM2212 are available through TI.com. Texas Instruments expects the TICS100MOD to become available by year-end 2026, giving customers access to the field-device component before the broader multiprotocol module reaches the market.

Texas Instruments will demonstrate the technology at electronica in Munich from Tuesday, November 10, through Friday, November 13. The planned demonstrations will cover multiprotocol Industrial Ethernet, IO-Link, neural processing units and time-sensitive networking.
