- Toyota's global vehicle sales fell in the first half of fiscal 2026, led by weakness in China and the Middle East.
- Hybrid and battery-electric vehicle sales reached first-half records despite the overall decline.
- Toyota's next financial results are scheduled for Thursday, November 5, 2026.
Toyota Motor faces a mixed setup ahead of its next results: global vehicle sales declined in the first half of fiscal 2026, while demand for electrified models reached record levels. The figures were reported by SBS in a report published on October 29, 2026.
China weighs on global sales
Toyota and Lexus vehicle sales fell 4.0 percent year over year to 5,059,014 units in the six months from April through September. It was the first first-half decline in two years, with China and the Middle East offsetting steadier demand in other major regions.
Chinese sales dropped 25.1 percent to 684,903 vehicles, while Middle Eastern sales decreased 35.1 percent to 187,802 units. North American sales rose 1.8 percent to 1,538,839 vehicles, European sales increased 1.4 percent to 594,913, and Japan gained 12.4 percent to 802,798 units.
Electrification remains a support
The sales mix offered a counterpoint to the overall decline. Hybrid vehicle sales increased 8.4 percent to 2,368,674 units, and battery-electric vehicle sales more than doubled to 230,764 units. Both categories reached records for a first-half period, according to SBS.
The figures leave investors balancing weaker volume in China and the Middle East against stronger electrified demand in North America, Europe and Japan. The regional split will be important when Toyota discusses profitability, pricing and its outlook for the fiscal year.
