- Third-quarter deliveries and revenue increased as stronger demand, particularly in North America, lifted Traton's operating momentum.
- Management kept its 2026 outlook unchanged while warning that tariffs, input costs and production ramp-ups could weigh on fourth-quarter margins.
- Scania opened a new research and development proving ground in Sweden to support electrification, autonomous driving and safety work.
TRATON's third-quarter momentum and stronger incoming orders shaped the week for investors. Management kept its 2026 outlook unchanged, while rising tariffs and production costs remained a constraint on margins.
Orders improve year-end visibility
In the third quarter, group deliveries increased 10 percent year over year and sales revenue rose 9 percent to EUR 11.3 billion, according to the Yahoo Finance transcript. Adjusted operating profit advanced 16 percent and adjusted return on sales reached 6.8 percent. Incoming orders rose 14 percent to 71,000 vehicles in the quarter.
Management confirmed its 2026 guidance for unit sales and revenue growth of 0 to 7 percent and an adjusted operating return on sales of 6.3 to 7.3 percent. The company also said fourth-quarter margin could come in below the third quarter as tariff expenses, supply-chain constraints, input costs and production ramp-up expenses develop.
TRATON's reported earnings also benefited from a non-operational accounting effect linked to Sinotruk share placements. Management said the effect would be excluded when determining the dividend proposal, keeping the underlying operating trend separate from the reported earnings figure.
Scania expands development capacity
Scania opened an 85-hectare research and development proving ground in Södertälje, Sweden, during the week. The Fleet Transport report said the facility represents a SEK 975 million investment and will support testing of electrified vehicles, autonomous systems, safety technology and conventional powertrains.
