- TUI Forest Mallorca won the global climate-adaptation category at the 2026 Global Responsible Tourism Awards.
- The project links ecosystem restoration, biodiversity protection and local participation in Mallorca.
- Three further TUI Care Foundation projects reached the global finals after regional awards.
TUI Forest Mallorca won the global award in the Adapting to Climate Change category on Wednesday, November 4, 2026, according to TUI Group. The project is run by the TUI Care Foundation with the Government of the Balearic Islands and was recognised at the International Centre for Responsible Tourism Global Summit in London.
The award gives TUI a new sustainability reference in one of its core tourism destinations, although the announcement concerns a foundation initiative rather than a change to the group's financial guidance. TUI Forest Mallorca focuses on degraded landscapes in the Península de Llevant Natural Park in northeastern Mallorca, an area affected by repeated wildfires, land-use pressure and climate change.
Restoration supports local resilience
The programme combines the planting of native, fire-resistant species with coastal-dune rehabilitation and habitat protection. Its stated aims include strengthening ecosystem resilience, reducing desertification risk and protecting biodiversity over the long term.
More than 1,100 people have participated in restoration, conservation and environmental education activities, TUI Group said. The initiative involves local communities, conservation specialists, students and tourism businesses, linking environmental work with visitor education and the wider tourism economy.
Alexander Panczuk, managing director of the TUI Care Foundation, described the award as recognition of cooperation between the tourism sector and public institutions. The foundation said the project could encourage other destinations and tourism businesses to invest in natural environments and communities that underpin tourism demand.
Broader foundation recognition
The Mallorca project was not the foundation's only success in the 2026 awards. Three additional projects reached the global finals after winning regional Gold awards: TUI Sea the Change Bali in the Nature Positive category, plus TUI Forest Dominican Republic and TUI Field to Fork Greece in Regenerative Tourism.
The awards brought together 34 finalists from 24 countries across six categories. For investors, the broader recognition underlines TUI's effort to position tourism as a contributor to environmental protection and community development, but it does not by itself establish a measurable earnings effect.
