- Third-quarter net profit reached S$1.25 billion but fell short of the S$1.35 billion mean estimate.
- Record wealth management fees and stronger loan activity supported earnings.
- Higher credit provisions and the low year-earlier base shaped the comparison.
United Overseas Bank reported third-quarter net profit of S$1.25 billion for the period ended September 30, 2026, missing the S$1.35 billion mean estimate from two analysts, according to Reuters. The result was more than twice the year-earlier profit, when a surge in credit provisions created a low comparison base.
UOB said stronger loan-related activity and wealth management fees reaching an all-time high supported the quarter. The earnings miss nevertheless leaves investors focused on the balance between fee growth, lending momentum and funding costs.
Fees support a mixed earnings picture
The bank's record fee income provided the clearest positive signal in the quarter. Wealth management remained a key contributor, while loan-related activity also strengthened. Reuters reported that the year-earlier period was heavily affected by elevated credit provisions, limiting the usefulness of the sharp year-on-year profit increase as a measure of underlying progress.
