U.S. Bancorp's chief risk officer transition moved into focus after Jodi L. Richard resigned from her roles as vice chair and chief risk officer on October 23, 2026. Banking Dive reported the change on October 29, citing the bank's Securities and Exchange Commission filing.
Richard notified the Minneapolis-based lender of her departure effective immediately to take a position at another publicly traded company. The filing said her resignation was not due to any disagreement with U.S. Bancorp over its operations, policies or practices.
Interim cover for risk leadership
Troy W. Remington, U.S. Bancorp's executive vice president and chief credit officer, will serve as interim chief risk officer while the bank conducts a search for a permanent successor. Banking Dive reported that Remington has been with U.S. Bank for more than 21 years and became chief credit officer in 2021.
Richard had been with U.S. Bank since 2014 and became chief risk officer in 2018, according to the same report. Her next role is chief risk officer of American Express and its national bank, effective January 25, 2027, where she will also lead the global risk and compliance team.
U.S. Bancorp stock traded at 53.36 euros on Lang & Schwarz at 13:23 CET on Monday, November 2, 2026. Investors can follow the real-time quote of US Bancorp stock.
The leadership change leaves the bank with interim oversight of a key control function while the succession process continues. The company's statement that the resignation was unrelated to an operational or policy disagreement limits the direct interpretation of the departure, while the permanent appointment remains the next material development for investors.
