Vertex Pharmaceuticals Incorporated reported new interim ALYFTREK data in children aged 2 to 5 years on October 9, 2026. The company said the data showed recovery of exocrine pancreatic function in some children and enabled some participants to discontinue pancreatic enzyme replacement therapy. Interim study findings
The interim analysis followed at least 48 weeks of treatment with vanzacaftor, tezacaftor and deutivacaftor. Vertex said 48 children were eligible for the pancreatic enzyme replacement therapy discontinuation substudy, with 18, or 37.5 percent, successfully discontinuing treatment for a mean duration of 8.6 weeks at the analysis date. Across the full enrolled cohort of 66 children, 50 percent were not receiving pancreatic enzyme replacement therapy at the data cut. The company release said ALYFTREK use in children aged 2 to 5 years remains investigational.
