International funding expands
According to Viet Nam News on October 7, 2026, Vietnam International Bank completed the three-year facility with nine financial institutions from Singapore, Malaysia, Taiwan and Hong Kong. The loan was disbursed in three tranches during 2026.
The cost of funds was 30 basis points lower than VIB's previous syndicated loan, according to Viet Nam News. The new funding is intended to support lending to retail customers, small and medium-sized businesses and corporate clients.
Profit growth meets credit expansion
VIB reported first-half 2026 pretax profit of more than VND 5.18 trillion, up 3 percent year over year, while total assets exceeded VND 580 trillion as of June 30, 2026, according to Vietnam Market Insights. The comparison shows continued earnings growth, but at a slower pace than the bank's expansion in balance-sheet size.
The second quarter contained a sharper counter-signal. Finhay reported that quarterly pretax profit fell 8.2 percent year over year to VND 2.383 trillion, while first-half profit rose 3.3 percent to VND 5.185 trillion. Credit-loss provisions reached VND 1.280 trillion in the second quarter, up 101.5 percent from the year-earlier period.
Analyst target remains higher
The valuation gap is visible in the analyst survey. Investing.com listed a Strong Buy consensus based on four analysts, with an average 12-month target of VND 18.320, a high target of VND 22.694 and a low target of VND 14.703, as reported on September 18, 2026.
Against the HOSE price of VND 13.90 on October 7, the average target lies 31.8 percent above the price. The low target is also higher than the latest quoted level, but the gap between earnings growth and provisioning pressure remains the central operating issue.
