Vingroup stock secures a 200 trainset rail deal in Hanoi

The market value stood at VND 1,739.7 trillion, and the contract adds a concrete industrial project to Vingroup’s growth story.
Alstom deal adds rail capacity
According to Alstom on October 6, 2026, the agreement covers up to 83 five-car Metropolis trainsets built in France and a technology license supporting the assembly of 117 additional trains in Vietnam.
The project therefore covers 200 trainsets in total, with Vingroup taking responsibility for local assembly of the second tranche. Alstom said the partnership supports urban rail projects in Hanoi and the development of local rail capabilities.
Revenue growth raises the bar
The rail announcement arrives after a sharp first-half improvement. PR Newswire reported that Vingroup posted consolidated revenue of VND 222.9 trillion in the first half of 2026, up 72 percent from the same period in 2025.
Profit after tax reached VND 20.904 trillion in the same period, more than 4.5 times the year-earlier figure. The comparison matters because the new rail activity expands the industrial profile behind the group’s reported revenue growth rather than adding another purely financial investment.
Analyst target remains below VIC
Investing.com listed two analysts with an overall Sell consensus, an average 12-month price target of VND 117,000, a high target of VND 117,000 and a low target of VND 117,000. The VND 227,000 market price was 94.0 percent above that target on October 7, 2026.
The same Investing.com page lists October 26, 2026 as Vingroup’s next earnings date. That report will give investors a closer test of whether the first-half revenue increase is translating into sustained earnings momentum as the group adds infrastructure projects.
VIC holds a wide yearly range
VIC’s 52-week range was VND 87,600 to VND 265,000 on October 7, 2026. The VND 227,000 price sat VND 38,000 below the yearly high, leaving the rail contract and the October earnings date as the next concrete points for assessing the group’s expansion.
