Three steps changed the capital base
On September 10, 2026, VPBank approved September 25, 2026 as the record date for a stock dividend with a 26.04 percent distribution ratio, as reported by VNBA. The plan covered 2,066,076,399 common shares with a stated value of more than VND 20.66 trillion.
On September 25, 2026, the record date applied to the distribution, with shareholders receiving 2,604,104 new shares for every 10,000,000 shares held, according to VNBA. On October 5, 2026, the bank received the regulator's letter concerning the issue report, and shares outstanding rose from more than 7.93 billion to 10.00 billion, VietnamPlus reported.
What does the issue mean for earnings?
The larger share base changes the denominator for per-share metrics, making operating profit and asset quality more important for the next valuation phase. VPBank reported consolidated pretax profit of VND 18.90 trillion in the first half of 2026, up 68.00 percent from the same period a year earlier, according to Nhip Song Kinh Doanh. Consolidated operating income reached VND 43.40 trillion in the same period, up 35.20 percent year over year.
Two capital dates remain
VPBank expects the newly issued shares to be transferred between October and November 2026. The bank also plans a private placement of more than 624.00 million shares in the third to fourth quarter of 2026, which could raise charter capital to VND 106.24 trillion, according to Vietnam Financial Times.
