- Wabash reported higher third-quarter sales but remained loss-making at the operating and adjusted EPS levels.
- Backlog growth and stronger dry van orders prompted the company to accelerate capacity investments.
- Parts and Services remained profitable, while cash flow and trailer operations weighed on the group.
Wabash reported its third-quarter 2026 results on Thursday, October 29, with higher sales but another operating loss. In its quarterly results release, the company said revenue rose 24.8 percent year over year to 476.4 million dollars for the quarter ended September 30.
Revenue Growth, Operating Loss
GAAP operating loss was 20.0 million dollars, compared with operating income of 57.6 million dollars a year earlier. The result included a 7.5 million dollar gain on the sale of a manufacturing facility and 0.5 million dollars of facility idling costs. Excluding those items, adjusted operating loss was 27.0 million dollars.
Wabash reported diluted GAAP loss of 0.51 dollars per share and adjusted diluted loss of 0.63 dollars. Adjusted EBITDA was negative 10.4 million dollars, while operating cash flow for the quarter was negative 37.3 million dollars.
Dry Van Orders Shift Capacity Plans
Total backlog reached approximately 1.198 billion dollars at September 30, up 25 percent from the prior quarter. Chief Executive Officer Brent Yeagy said customer order activity led Wabash to pull capacity additions into the third quarter that had originally been planned for the first and second quarters of 2027.
Transportation Solutions generated 407.9 million dollars in third-quarter sales and an operating loss of 7.5 million dollars. Parts and Services contributed 69.4 million dollars of sales and 5.8 million dollars of operating income, providing a profitable counterweight to the trailer business.
Fourth-Quarter Loss Still Expected
Wabash guides fourth-quarter revenue to 420 million to 450 million dollars and adjusted diluted loss per share to 0.75 dollars to 0.55 dollars. Management expects market conditions and financial performance to improve sequentially, but the outlook still points to near-term pressure from production readiness and capacity spending.
