Cardano (ADA) advanced its .ada domain application to the next stage of the ICANN program on October 8, with 75 percent governance support. The Cardano Foundation said the application is part of ICANN's first new generic top-level domain round since 2012, according to Cardano Foundation. The Cardano price stands at 0.2213 USD as of October 16, 2026, up 0.66 percent compared with the UTC daily close of October 15, 2026.
A 75 percent vote moves .ada forward
The .ada application concerns a generic top-level domain, the suffix that appears at the end of an internet address. If approved, the Cardano Foundation said it could support simplified wallet addresses, decentralized identity integration and domain tokenization, according to Cardano Foundation. The application joins other Web3-related bids in the program, while the approval process remains separate from ADA transactions and the Cardano protocol.
The same announcement said Plutus version 1.71.0.0 adds the full V4 script context ahead of node version 11.2. Plutus is Cardano's smart-contract language and execution environment. The technical update and the domain application are separate developments dated October 8, 2026.
Epoch 660 records 1.78 million transactions
Cardano processed 1,780,896 transactions in epoch 660 between October 6 and October 11, according to CryptoTicker. The epoch also generated 337,720 ADA in transaction fees. A transaction is a recorded network operation, while the total does not identify unique users.
Staking, the delegation of ADA to help secure proof-of-stake block production, covered 21.27 billion ADA in epoch 660, equal to 57.8 percent of freely circulating ADA, according to CryptoTicker. A separate governance vote to lower the minimum pool fee from 170 ADA to 75 ADA expired on October 11 without adoption, with 44.18 percent of active voting power supporting it, according to CryptoTicker.
October 27 beta date remains on the roadmap
An Amaru beta release is listed for October 27, 2026, in a Cardano roadmap overview from Admiral Markets. The overview describes Amaru as an alternative node client. It also lists the Dijkstra hard fork as a later roadmap item, with a stated window from December 5, 2026, to January 4, 2027.
