- The ATX was down 0.76 percent in Friday trading, with Vienna shares under pressure.
- The index opened below Thursday's close of 6,511.40 points and traded between 6,416.85 and 6,532.16 points.
- Weakness followed a sharp US technology sell-off and renewed concerns about artificial-intelligence regulation and investment.
The ATX traded lower during Friday's Vienna session, falling 0.76 percent to 6,462.03 points at 12:08 Berlin time, according to finanzen.ch. The report places the index below Thursday's close of 6,511.40 points.
Trading remains volatile
The ATX opened at 6,506.47 points and moved between an intraday low of 6,416.85 and a high of 6,532.16 points, finanzen.ch reported. The range indicates continued volatility rather than a one-directional decline, with the index recovering from its early low while remaining in negative territory.
Global technology sell-off weighs
The decline came as European markets reacted to a heavy sell-off in US technology stocks. ORF reported that the Nasdaq-100 had lost 6.4 percent in the previous session and that Asian technology shares also came under pressure. Investor concerns included the possible impact of tighter artificial-intelligence regulation and slower data-centre investment.
Mixed performance among constituents
AT&S was among the strongest ATX constituents in the finanzen.ch snapshot, while Mayr-Melnhof Karton, PORR, BAWAG and Raiffeisen also posted gains. Verbund, Wienerberger, CA Immobilien, OMV and Lenzing were among the weaker stocks. The mixed breadth suggests that the index decline was not evenly distributed across all sectors.
