- Azelis, argenx and Melexis were among the stronger performers, while Sofina, Aperam and Solvay lagged.
The BEL 20 closed 0.67% lower in Brussels on Tuesday, November 3, 2026. The decline followed Monday's 0.61% advance and marked a weaker session for Belgian large-cap equities.
Sector losses set the tone
Reuters, carried by Investing.com, reported that losses in financials, basic materials and consumer services led the market lower. The breadth of the move was negative: 61 stocks fell on the Brussels Stock Exchange, compared with 28 gainers, while 13 finished unchanged.
Azelis and argenx outperform
Azelis Group was the strongest BEL 20 performer, rising 1.18% to 11.99. argenx added 0.61% to 788.80, while Melexis gained 0.36% to 56.00. These advances provided some support but did not offset the broader pressure across the index.
Sofina leads the decliners
Sofina fell 3.16% to 276.00, making it the weakest performer in the reported session. Aperam declined 2.09% to 34.62 and Solvay lost 1.92% to 23.46. The combination of sector weakness and negative market breadth points to a broad-based pullback rather than a decline concentrated in a single constituent.
For investors tracking Belgian equities, the session highlighted the sensitivity of the BEL 20 to financial and materials stocks, while selected healthcare, technology and industrial names helped limit the index's losses. The next assessment should distinguish any further market move from Tuesday's close and from constituent-specific developments.
