BIST 100 closes 2.03 percent lower as fund turmoil persists

The index opened at 12,389.72 points, reached a high of 12,389.72 and fell to an intraday low of 12,048.47.
Selling broadens across the index
Declines were broad: 75 BIST 100 constituents fell, while 23 rose. Trading volume reached 113.5 billion Turkish liras, according to Anadolu Agency. Investing.com said losses were led by the leasing and factoring, technology, and metal products and machinery sectors.
Fund turmoil remains in focus
The decline came against a continuing backdrop of investigations and liquidations involving Turkish investment funds. Central Bank Governor Fatih Karahan said the broader fund market remained sound and that targeted liquidity measures had been used to contain spillovers, according to Anadolu Agency. Vice President Cevdet Yilmaz said the Treasury would not be used to cover losses from the liquidation of 131 troubled funds, Turkiye Today reported.
