Bovespa heads into Thursday as Natura drops 9.0 percent

Rio Times reported a session range of 204,176 to 206,877 points as investors assessed weaker large-cap shares and the next inflation reading.
Natura was the sharpest decliner, losing 9.0 percent after the company released its first financial sustainability report, according to Radar Ibov. Embraer fell 5.1 percent, while Bradesco declined 3.7 percent.
Stocks and sectors set the tone
Magazine Luiza gained 5.1 percent and Tenda rose 4.9 percent. Vale dropped 2.3 percent, Itaú Unibanco lost 2.7 percent and BTG Pactual fell 2.5 percent, according to Money Times. Banks and materials weakened, while energy, sanitation and construction shares advanced. Fifty of 85 tracked stocks rose, compared with 34 declines and one unchanged stock.
Wall Street also provided a weaker external cue: the S&P 500 finished Wednesday at 7,802 points, down 0.2 percent. The Brazilian real weakened 0.7 percent against the USD, adding to the cautious backdrop for the B3 open.
What comes next
On October 8, Brazil's regional industrial survey is scheduled for 9:00 a.m. BRT. The next major index event is the September IPCA release from IBGE on October 9 at 9:00 a.m. BRT. Economists expect annual inflation of 4.5 percent, according to Boletim Nacional.
