The BSE Sensex closed at 74,316 points on October 15, 2026, up 1,534 points or 2.1 percent. Technology earnings optimism helped reverse the previous session's decline, as ET Now reported.
Tech Mahindra was among the strongest named Sensex stocks, rising 3.7 percent. HCLTech also gained 2.9 percent, while Nestle India fell 6.3 percent, according to ET Now.
Why did the BSE Sensex rise?
Information technology shares led the advance after HCLTech's results improved confidence in sector earnings. Tech Mahindra, HCLTech and Tata Consultancy Services were among the strongest performers, The Week reported. Private banks and auto shares also supported the benchmark, while global market weakness limited the breadth of the rebound.
BSE Sensex movers after the rally
ET Now said Tech Mahindra rose 3.7 percent and Bharti Airtel gained 3.3 percent. Nestle India declined 6.3 percent, while Adani Enterprises and Trent also traded lower. The market's leadership therefore remained concentrated in technology, banking and selected auto stocks.
