Bond pressure hits banks
French 10-year government bond yields rose to 4.8892 percent, while the spread over the German 10-year yield reached 139 basis points, its highest level since the eurozone debt crisis of 2011-2012, Boursorama reported. The bank sector fell 1.9 percent as the bond-market turbulence revived concerns about sovereign-debt holdings.
Oil prices also rose as renewed Middle East supply risks lifted Brent crude to USD 105.67 per barrel and West Texas Intermediate to USD 92.83, according to Boursorama.
Stocks split the index
TotalEnergies gained 2.9 percent and Schneider Electric rose 2.6 percent. STMicroelectronics fell 3.8 percent, while Stellantis dropped 3.3 percent, based on the closing performance table published by Ideal-investisseur. Seventeen CAC 40 members advanced and 23 declined.
What comes next
On Friday, October 9, 2026, ECB President Christine Lagarde is scheduled to participate in an Ecofin meeting in Luxembourg. ECB Executive Board member Isabel Schnabel is also scheduled to speak at a symposium in Lucerne, according to the European Central Bank.
