Canton price is in focus after a major institutional tokenization launch. On October 28, 2026, The Depository Trust & Clearing Corporation launched its DTCC Tokenization Service, connecting traditional market infrastructure with blockchain-based representations of securities. The service is currently integrated with Canton Network and DTCC's private Besu network.
According to the DTCC press release, 20 participants had signed agreements to access the service at launch. The named firms include J.P. Morgan, Citi, Morgan Stanley, Bank of America, Fidelity Investments, State Street and UBS. DTCC said the service enables eligible users to mint tokenized representations of assets held at its subsidiary, The Depository Trust Company.
Institutional scale, but two networks
The initial service supports selected large-cap U.S. stocks, exchange-traded funds and U.S. Treasury securities. CoinDesk reported that 34 securities were eligible at launch, representing approximately 30 trillion USD in market value. The tokens are backed one-for-one by securities held at DTC, while official ownership records remain with DTC. Tokenized assets can move between registered wallets around the clock, subject to compliance controls.
For Canton, the launch strengthens the network's institutional-use narrative. The Canton Network website presents the project as a privacy-enabled public blockchain for financial markets and highlights tokenized assets as a core use case. However, DTCC's multi-network design matters for CC holders: institutions can access the service through the private Besu network as well as Canton. The launch therefore demonstrates demand for tokenization infrastructure, but it does not by itself prove that participating firms must buy or hold Canton Coin.
CC remains under pressure
The Investing.com Canton market page listed CC at 0.09660 USD on October 29, 2026, and displayed a 4.38 percent decline. The page also showed a 24-hour volume of 13.38 million USD, a market capitalization of 3.87 billion USD and 39.94 billion CC in circulation. These figures describe the quoted market snapshot and should not be treated as a direct measure of DTCC-related usage.
For investors, the key question is whether growing network activity eventually creates token demand that exceeds issuance and other sources of supply. The DTCC rollout is a concrete adoption milestone, but its effect on CC depends on how the service uses Canton, how fees are handled and whether activity translates into sustained public-network demand.
