Cardano (ADA) put the CIP-0113 programmable token standard live on its mainnet on October 7, 2026, allowing issuers of regulated assets to build compliance rules into tokens, according to Cardano. The Cardano price is 0.2229 USD as of October 21, 2026, up 2.04 percent compared with the UTC daily close of October 20, 2026.
CIP-0113 adds controls for regulated tokens
CIP-0113 is designed for stablecoins, tokenized funds, bonds and other regulated assets. The standard lets issuers select rules for identity checks, sanctions screening and transfer restrictions, while also supporting freeze and seize functions for assets whose issuers choose those controls. The Cardano Foundation said the programmable tokens remain native Cardano assets based on the extended unspent transaction output model, so wallets, explorers and applications can handle them like other tokens.
The October 7 launch did not require a hard fork. Cardano said the standard launched with support from Eternl, GeroWallet, CardanoScan and BloxBean, while the Capital Markets and Technology Association recognized CIP-0113 as equivalent to a smart contract for its certification scheme, according to Cardano.
Epoch 660 set a 1.78 million transaction record
Cardano processed 1,780,896 transactions during Epoch 660, which ran from October 6 through October 11, 2026. The period also generated 337,720 ADA in fees, according to TokenPost. Transaction totals measure processed operations rather than unique users, a distinction noted in reporting on the record.
The next dated network milestone is the planned Amaru beta release on October 27, 2026. Amaru is an alternative Cardano node client, according to Admiral Markets.
