Canton price is in focus after the Depository Trust Company, a subsidiary of the Depository Trust & Clearing Corporation, launched its DTCC Tokenization Service on October 28, 2026. The service is currently integrated with Canton Network and DTCC's private Besu network, according to the DTCC press release.
Tokenization reaches live service
DTCC says the service creates tokenized representations of securities held at DTC. Eligible users can convert positions between traditional and tokenized forms and deliver the tokenized entitlements to approved digital wallets. The underlying tokens retain the ownership rights, investor protections and economic entitlements of their traditional counterparts.
Twenty DTC participants had signed agreements to access the service at launch, including Bank of America, Barclays, Citi, Fidelity Investments, J.P. Morgan, Morgan Stanley, State Street and UBS. DTCC also said the project was developed with input from more than 150 firms. The service is designed for institutional use rather than unrestricted access through an ordinary public crypto wallet.
What it means for Canton
The launch gives Canton a live connection to a regulated market-infrastructure project. That is a concrete institutional use case for the network, although the service also operates on DTCC's private Besu network. The official Canton Network announcement describes the same October 28 launch.
For investors, the Canton price therefore sits between a broader tokenization narrative and the practical limits of the new service. DTCC's announcement does not state that users must buy or use CC as a settlement asset. The immediate significance is the network's integration into an institutional workflow, while the direct effect on token demand remains uncertain.
