FTSE MIB closed at 49,746 points on October 9, 2026, up 0.91 percent, as falling oil prices and a slower bond-market selloff helped the Italian benchmark rebound from Thursday's four-month low, ANSA reported.
Fincantieri led the index with a 6.9 percent gain, while Amplifon rose 6.8 percent. MarketScreener also reported gains of 4.5 percent for Inwit and 3.7 percent for Saipem. Financial stocks recovered, with UniCredit up 1.1 percent and MPS 1.3 percent higher.
FTSE MIB rebounds from Thursday's low
The index reached an intraday low of 49,573 points and a high of 49,917 points, according to QuiFinanza. The previous session had ended at 49,298 points, leaving Friday's close 448 points higher. Trading Economics linked the recovery to easing pressure in the bond market and lower oil prices.
UniCredit remained in focus over its request for European Union antitrust approval for the Commerzbank transaction, with a decision expected by November 16, 2026. Leonardo gained 2.2 percent after opening a site for the Global Combat Air Programme.

Italian lawmakers begin budget-policy hearings on Monday, October 12, 2026, with Istat, the Court of Auditors, the National Economic and Labour Council, the Bank of Italy and the Parliamentary Budget Office scheduled to appear, Il Sole 24 Ore reported.
