IBEX 35 traded at 19,116 points at 12:13 p.m. CEST on October 9, 2026, up 1.0 percent from Thursday's close, as easing oil prices after President Donald Trump's pledge not to attack Iran before the November elections supported European stocks, according to Bolsamania and Democrata.
At that time, the index had opened at 19,147 points and traded between 19,052 and 19,175 points. The previous close was 18,929 points.
ArcelorMittal leads the advance
ArcelorMittal was the strongest IBEX 35 component at midday, rising 5.3 percent. Cellnex gained 3.7 percent, Acerinox advanced 3.5 percent, Grifols added 3.0 percent and Amadeus rose 2.6 percent, Press Digital reported.
Telefónica was down 3.6 percent, followed by Repsol at minus 2.4 percent, Endesa at minus 1.4 percent, Naturgy at minus 0.5 percent and Enagas at minus 0.1 percent.
Oil and Iran remain the market focus
Brent crude fell 1.3 percent to USD 102.9 a barrel at midday, while West Texas Intermediate declined 1.1 percent to USD 90.5. Oil had risen above USD 105 on Thursday after reports of possible US attack plans against Iran. Trump's statement that no attack would take place before the November 3 midterm elections helped reverse part of that move, according to Asharq Al-Awsat.
What comes next
The preliminary University of Michigan consumer sentiment reading for October is scheduled for 4:00 p.m. CEST on October 9, with consensus at 47.6 versus 48.1 in September, according to Admiral Markets.
