MOEX Russia gained 25 points, or 1.0 percent, to 2,418.82 points on October 13. The advance followed easing sanctions pressure and a Russia-US diesel deal, while Brent stood at USD 105.69 per barrel, Interfax reported.
Severstal led the index higher with a 5.8 percent gain. Tatneft fell 2.2 percent after its shares traded without the entitlement to first-half dividends, TASS reported.
Why did MOEX Russia rise on Tuesday?
Interfax linked the advance to softer sanctions pressure and hopes for better geopolitical ties. Finance Minister Anton Siluanov said renewed diesel exports would support the payment balance. The index also benefited from a broad move across major shares. The close at 2,418.82 points marked the highest closing level since June 19, with the session high at 2,431.1 points, TASS reported.
