Profit-taking was concentrated in recent market leaders. Reuters reported that Tokyo Electron fell 2.38 percent and Kioxia Holdings dropped 4.46 percent. Advantest declined 1.34 percent, while SoftBank Group rose 0.24 percent, according to QNA.
Market breadth was negative: 62 percent of more than 1,500 stocks on the Tokyo Stock Exchange's Prime Market fell, while 33 percent rose, Reuters said.
