The upgrade targets a reduction in block spacing from 75 seconds to 25 seconds, which could shorten the wait for transaction confirmations from nearly four minutes for three confirmations to about 75 seconds.
The change also removes 60 percent of transaction fees from circulation for a reserve intended to fund future mining rewards, according to CoinDesk. The same report said NU7 disables Zcash's original Sprout privacy system, making funds left there unspendable when the upgrade activates.
