The OMXS30 closed at 3,284.44 on Tuesday, November 3, down 0.08% from Monday's close of 3,287.02. The Stockholm large-cap index recovered during the afternoon but weakened again toward the end of the session. The closing level and daily performance were reported by Placera, while Nasdaq's index overview identifies the OMXS30 as Stockholm's leading 30-stock index and showed Monday's previous close.
Afternoon recovery fades
According to Placera, the market initially followed a weaker European tone before recovering as oil prices turned lower on reports of diplomatic progress in the Middle East. The index briefly moved above zero in the afternoon after reports that the United States had approved a draft agreement with Iran presented by Qatari negotiators. The recovery did not hold through the close.
Investing.com reported that basic materials, oil and gas, and telecoms were among the weaker areas. Declining stocks outnumbered advancing stocks on the Stockholm exchange, with 415 falling, 323 rising and 67 unchanged.
ABB leads, miners lag
ABB was the strongest major OMXS30 constituent, rising 1.74%, while SCA B gained 0.92% and Atlas Copco A advanced 0.83%, according to Investing.com. Boliden fell 3.33% as metal prices weakened, while EQT declined 1.63% and SKF B lost 1.57%. Placera also reported that industrials and consumer staples each gained 0.2% among the larger sectors, while raw materials and energy each fell 1.1%.
Company reports added to the uneven session. NCC rose 3.3% after reporting a nearly 24% increase in third-quarter order intake to 10,832 million Swedish kronor, although adjusted operating profit declined slightly. Latour gained 5.8% after reporting higher order intake, sales and earnings. Outside the index, Truecaller fell almost 16% after reporting lower third-quarter sales and a negative net result, partly affected by a 92 million Swedish kronor tax provision.
For investors, the session showed how geopolitical headlines and commodity prices continued to shape sector performance, while company-specific earnings produced sharp moves beneath the relatively small index decline. Further coverage is available on the OMXS30 topic page.
