Galp leads the gainers at 3.51 percent
Galp Energia rose 3.51 percent to EUR 22.69, benefiting from higher crude prices. Jeronimo Martins advanced 2.43 percent, while Semapa gained 1.80 percent. Banco de Investimento Global reported that seven of the 16 index members finished higher.
BCP falls 2.41 percent as breadth stays negative
Banco Comercial Portugues was the weakest major performer, falling 2.41 percent to EUR 1.14. EDP Renovaveis lost 1.85 percent and Mota-Engil declined 1.63 percent. Investing.com reported that 16 stocks declined, nine advanced and three ended unchanged.
Oil and rates shape the European backdrop
Brent crude for December delivery rose 5.24 percent to USD 105.45 a barrel, according to Investing.com. The European Central Bank's account of its September meeting said energy prices and higher long-term yields were driving financial-market conditions. Reuters via Euronext reported that policymakers had dampened near-term rate-hike bets.
