Treasury yields rose during the session, with the 10-year yield at 5.333 percent and the 30-year yield at 5.711 percent, while Brent crude moved above USD 101 per barrel, CNBC reported. The higher-rate and energy-cost backdrop kept attention on financing conditions for smaller companies.
Reuters said investors were reassessing the interest-rate outlook as oil prices rebounded. The agency reported that the Russell 2000 was more than 8 percent below its all-time high and that markets were pricing a December rate hike as a possibility.

The U.S. Treasury was scheduled to auction USD 39 billion of 10-year notes at 1:00 p.m. ET, followed by the minutes of the Federal Reserve's September 15-16 meeting at 2:00 p.m. ET. The Federal Reserve listed October 7 for the minutes, while CNBC gave the release time.
