Wall Street turned more cautious as the 30-year Treasury yield reached 5.71 percent, its highest level since 2002, while Brent crude moved back above USD 100 per barrel, Reuters reported. The combination followed a record close for the S&P 500 on Tuesday, when technology shares and expectations for strong third-quarter earnings supported the index.
Federal Reserve minutes ahead
The Federal Reserve was scheduled to release minutes from its September 15-16 meeting at 2:00 p.m. ET on October 7. The minutes are expected to provide detail on the debate behind the quarter-point rate increase to a 3.75 percent to 4.00 percent target range, according to Reuters.
Investors also faced a 10-year Treasury note auction during the session. On October 8, initial jobless claims are scheduled for 8:30 a.m. ET, followed by a 30-year Treasury auction at 1:00 p.m. ET, while PepsiCo is due to report before the market open, according to Capital Street FX.
