The Shenzhen Component ended Friday, November 6, at 11,175.78 points, down 2.57 percent from Thursday's close. The session marked a sharp reversal after two consecutive advances and came as technology-heavy markets across Asia weakened.
Technology shares lead retreat
According to Xinhua, published by NAMPA, the Shenzhen Component lost 2.57 percent on Friday. The report also put combined turnover for stocks covered by the Shanghai Composite and Shenzhen Component at 1.66 trillion yuan, down from 2.12 trillion yuan on the previous trading day.
The main pressure came from technology and computing-power hardware shares. Trading Economics attributed the retreat to a technology sell-off across Asian markets and renewed concern about regulatory headwinds for artificial-intelligence and data-center industries. The report cited steep declines in Eoptolink Technology and Zhongji Innolight, while Cambricon Technologies and Hygon Information Technology also fell.
Weekly performance remains positive
Friday's decline followed a gain of 1.19 percent on Thursday. The Thursday closing level was 11,471.09 points, as reported by The Edge. Based on those closing levels, Friday's fall was 2.57 percent, consistent with the Xinhua report.
Despite the daily setback, Trading Economics reported a 3.16 percent weekly gain for the Shenzhen Component. That left the index with a positive week even as Friday's selling interrupted the recent rebound. The Shanghai Composite also fell on Friday, declining 1.10 percent to 3,649.18 points, according to Xinhua, indicating that the weakness extended beyond Shenzhen-listed growth shares.
Market focus turns to technology risk
The session highlights the sensitivity of Shenzhen-listed equities to changes in global technology sentiment. The combination of heavy selling in AI-related companies, lower market turnover and a broad regional retreat points to reduced risk appetite rather than a single index-specific development. Investors will continue to assess whether policy support and bargain hunting can offset concerns about AI spending, data-center demand and possible regulatory constraints.
