- U.S. spot SOL exchange-traded funds recorded $24.82 million in net outflows on October 27 and 28.
- Crypto.news reported SOL at $99.71 on October 29, while a whale sold 1.02 million SOL over five days.
- Solana's Alpenglow consensus upgrade went live on October 21, targeting transaction finality of about 150 milliseconds.
Solana price remains under pressure as digital-asset fund redemptions and large-holder selling have added to a difficult October for SOL. Crypto.news reported SOL at $99.71 at 08:11 UTC on October 29, down 2.1 percent over 24 hours and 15.41 percent over the previous month.
The figures came as U.S. spot SOL exchange-traded funds recorded $19.16 million in net outflows on October 27 and another $5.66 million on October 28, for a combined $24.82 million. According to crypto.news, the October 27 withdrawal was the largest single-day outflow since December 3, 2025. ETF redemptions do not by themselves establish how much of a price decline was caused by fund selling.
Whale selling adds another risk
Crypto.news also reported that the blockchain analytics account Lookonchain identified a wallet that sold 1.02 million SOL worth $104.3 million over five days. The wallet owner's identity and the full execution details were not independently established in the report, so the activity should be treated as a reported market signal rather than proof of a broader distribution trend.
The same report identified the $96 to $100 area as a support zone and $104 to $105 as a level that buyers would need to reclaim to improve the short-term chart structure. These are technical reference points, not confirmed price targets. The Investing.com SOL/USD page separately displayed a price of $97.389 at 23:03:19 on the retrieved page, with a 24-hour change of minus 5.00 percent. The different timestamps and market-data sources mean the figures are not directly interchangeable.
Protocol development continues
Market weakness has not halted Solana's engineering work. The Alpenglow consensus upgrade activated on October 21 and targets transaction finality of about 150 milliseconds, according to the crypto.news report. On October 29, the project published a Solana Foundation changelog documenting the release of offchain message signing, new Agave and Firedancer versions, and work on validator and RPC infrastructure.
For investors, the contrast is important: protocol upgrades can improve network functionality, but they do not automatically translate into near-term token demand. The immediate Solana price picture remains tied to fund flows, broader crypto-market risk and the ability of buyers to defend the reported support area.
