- Tether's September 30 attestation reported $191.45 billion in assets against $183.50 billion in liabilities.
- The reserve buffer reached $7.95 billion, while third-quarter net operating profit was $1.5 billion.
- Investing.com listed USDT at $0.9994 when checked on November 4, with a $178.15 billion market capitalization.
The Tether USDt price remained close to its intended one-dollar value on November 4 after the issuer highlighted its response to the Binance hack. Tether said it froze more than $1.5 billion in USDt within 30 minutes of the October 29 attack, preventing the funds from being transferred, exchanged or laundered, according to the company's Tether announcement.
Freeze highlights control over transfers
Tether linked the frozen assets to the Binance incident and said the FBI had attributed the attack to North Korea. The issuer also said it had frozen more than $7 billion in USDt held at secondary-market addresses in total, although the Binance-related funds remain frozen rather than confirmed as recovered or returned.
For holders and market participants, the event illustrates both sides of a centralized stablecoin. Tether's ability to blacklist addresses can help limit the movement of stolen assets, but it also means that access to USDt depends partly on the issuer's intervention and compliance processes.
Reserve cushion nearly doubles
Tether's quarterly attestation, prepared by BDO and covering September 30, showed total assets of $191.45 billion and liabilities of $183.50 billion. The resulting excess of assets over liabilities was $7.95 billion, up from $4.1 billion at the end of the second quarter. The company said USDt issuance was broadly steady at $184 billion during the first three quarters of 2026.
The same release reported $1.5 billion in net operating profit for the third quarter and $4.5 billion for the first nine months of the year. Direct and indirect holdings of U.S. Treasury bills totaled $132.4 billion, while Treasury bills and reverse repurchase agreements remained the main sources of income.
Price remains near the dollar
Investing.com listed USDT at $0.9994 when its Tether USDt page was checked on November 4. The page showed a market capitalization of $178.15 billion, 24-hour volume of $47.72 billion, circulating supply of 178.37 billion USDT and a rank of three. These figures describe the market snapshot at the time of retrieval rather than a verified UTC daily close.
The Tether USDt price therefore continues to reflect a peg-oriented use case rather than a conventional growth-asset profile. The relevant investor questions are reserve quality, redemption liquidity, regulatory exposure and the scope of Tether's address-freezing powers. The latest attestation strengthens the reported reserve cushion, while the Binance response keeps issuer control at the center of the risk assessment.
