The Tether USDt price remained close to its dollar target on November 6, as market attention focused on a recent transfer from Tether Treasury to Bitfinex. TokenPost reported that 170 million USDT, valued at about 169.9 million USD, moved on November 3. The report said the purpose of the transfer had not been established and that the movement alone did not show whether the tokens were used in trades or changed market liquidity. TokenPost published the report on November 3.
Price remains near the peg
When checked for this report on November 6, Investing.com displayed USDT at 0.9991 USD. The page also showed a 24-hour volume of 85.37 billion USD, a market capitalization of 177.48 billion USD, a circulating supply of 177.75 billion USDT and a rank of 3. Its displayed 52-week range was 0.9943 to 1.0032 USD. The page carried a real-time label but did not provide a verifiable UTC date for the comparison base, so no UTC daily percentage change is stated here. Investing.com was the source for these market figures.
Transfer has no proven market effect
For investors using USDT as a dollar-linked settlement asset, the Bitfinex transfer is primarily a wallet-movement signal rather than evidence of new demand. TokenPost also noted that 255 million USDT moved in the opposite direction, from Bitfinex to Tether Treasury, on October 30. Neither transaction by itself establishes a change in issuance, redemption activity or exchange liquidity.
Reserves and control remain central
The issuer's latest financial update provides a separate context for the peg. In a report dated October 30, Tether said its third-quarter attestation, prepared by BDO and covering September 30, showed 191.5 billion USD in reserve assets against 183.5 billion USD in liabilities. The stated excess reserve buffer was 7.95 billion USD, compared with 4.1 billion USD at the end of the second quarter. Tether also reported 1.5 billion USD in third-quarter net operating profit and 132.4 billion USD in direct and indirect U.S. Treasury bill holdings. These figures come from an attestation, not a full financial-statement audit. Tether published the figures.
Control over transfers is another defining feature. Tether said it froze more than 1.5 billion USDT within 30 minutes of the October 29 Binance hack, after the FBI attributed the attack to North Korea. The issuer said the action prevented the funds from being transferred, swapped or laundered. That intervention illustrates both the compliance utility and the centralization risk of a token whose issuer can restrict wallet activity. Tether published the account on November 2.
