Utexo gets Bitcoin license on October 2: What it means for Tether USDt price

Utexo's October 2 license broadens the route

Mabonchain reported that Utexo, a Tether-backed project, received a commercial license to issue USDT on Bitcoin and was expected to begin issuing the token during October 2026. USDT originally launched on Bitcoin in 2014 before moving mainly to Ethereum and Tron, according to the report.

The same October 5, 2026, report said Tether's supply fell by 207.7 million USD during the third quarter, while the number of holder addresses increased by 17.2 million. The figures describe separate parts of the market: circulating supply declined even as the number of addresses holding USDT rose.

Coinbase sets October 30 for EEA balances

Coinbase will automatically convert affected stablecoin balances held by retail customers in the European Economic Area on October 30, 2026, with USDT among the affected assets, FinanceFeeds reported on October 26, 2026. The conversion will use USDC where suitable, or another supported cryptocurrency or currency.

FinanceFeeds said the Coinbase action applies to customers served by Coinbase Luxembourg rather than all Coinbase users worldwide. The report also said the European Securities and Markets Authority's three-month window for addressing affected stablecoin exposure ends on January 8, 2027.

USDT holds rank 3 at 182.24 billion USD
