- The index closed Friday at 4,131.37 points, down 1.85 percent from Thursday.
- Orlen and Dino were among the main drags, while Modivo gained strongly.
- Market commentary linked the weak session to renewed pressure after a sharp US equity selloff.
The WIG 20 finished the Warsaw Stock Exchange session on Friday, November 6, 2026, at 4,131.37 points, down 1.85 percent from Thursday's close. The decline amounted to 77.78 points and followed a 0.46 percent gain in the previous session. The closing level and daily performance were reported by Investing.com in an ISBnews market report.
Large caps drive the decline
Friday's weakness was concentrated in several large constituents. PAP Biznes reported that Orlen and Dino fell by roughly 6 percent during the session, making them significant weights on the benchmark. Orlen was described as the weakest WIG 20 stock in the market commentary, while Modivo rose by 6.8 percent. LPP and Budimex also lost more than 2 percent, and KGHM declined by 1.4 percent. Only two WIG 20 constituents were reported as rising: Modivo and CD Projekt RED.
Results added to the market focus
Orlen reported third-quarter 2026 LIFO EBITDA of 14.78 billion Polish zloty, compared with 8.9 billion Polish zloty a year earlier. The figure was below the 15.32 billion Polish zloty analyst expectation cited by PAP Biznes. The company also said that its 2026 capital expenditure could be below the previously assumed 36 billion Polish zloty. PAP Biznes quoted Ipopema Private Investments analyst Sobieslaw Kozlowski as saying that Orlen's share-price decline was not directly related to the results and could instead reflect oil-market conditions and profit-taking. This is an analyst interpretation, not a confirmed causal explanation for the index move.
Broader market backdrop
The decline followed what the same PAP Biznes report described as a sharp selloff on US markets on Thursday. It also noted that the yield on 10-year US Treasury bonds had fallen below 5 percent, which the quoted analyst viewed as potentially reducing pressure on equity valuations. The WIG 20 nevertheless ended the week lower, with Friday's close marking a clear reversal from Thursday's recovery.
