Zcash price in focus as NU7 upgrade nears November 5

The Zcash price is in focus ahead of Network Upgrade 7, or NU7, which is scheduled to activate at mainnet block 3,543,405 around November 5, 2026. The activation height was merged into the Zcash ZIP repository on October 21, according to the Zcash ZIP repository.

Faster blocks are the main change

NU7 is set to reduce Zcash's target block interval from 75 seconds to 25 seconds. That does not guarantee final settlement in 25 seconds, because exchanges and other services can require multiple confirmations. Three confirmations would nevertheless represent a materially shorter wait under the new target interval.

The upgrade also changes how transaction fees are handled. According to The Motley Fool, published by Yahoo Finance, 60 percent of block transaction fees are to be removed from circulation and placed in a network sustainability mechanism, while miners retain the remaining 40 percent. The change is intended to support the network's longer-term security budget.

Sprout creates a migration deadline

NU7 will also shut down Zcash's original Sprout privacy pool and disable the transaction format used to spend funds held there. Any affected balance must be moved to a newer pool before activation; otherwise, it could become unusable after the upgrade. The issue concerns legacy Sprout holdings rather than ZEC held in newer pools or ordinary transparent addresses.

What investors should watch

For the Zcash price, the immediate focus is whether the activation proceeds cleanly and whether wallets, exchanges, miners and node operators upgrade in time. The upgrade has been announced in advance, so its technical execution may matter more than the existence of the event itself. A smooth transition would remove an operational uncertainty, while delays or incompatibilities could increase volatility. The upgrade alone does not establish a direction for the token's price.
