Zcash price rises 7.09 percent to 1,355.87 USD before NU7

Zcash (ZEC) rises 7.09 percent to 1,355.87 USD as of October 28, 2026. Its developers are preparing the NU7 network upgrade for a mainnet activation at block 3,543,405, targeted for November 5, 2026. The Zcash price and the protocol milestone are separate developments.

NU7 targets block 3,543,405 for November

On October 20, Zcash ZIP editors agreed on mainnet activation height 3,543,405 for NU7, according to Zcash ZIPs. A block height is the sequential number assigned to a block on the network and determines when consensus rules switch on. The proposal also sets a related reissuance height of 8,939,664 for the network sustainability mechanism.

CoinDesk reported on October 21 that NU7 is designed to reduce the target interval between blocks from 75 seconds to 25 seconds. The upgrade also directs 60 percent of block fees out of circulation temporarily and disables Zcash's original Sprout privacy system. Funds left in Sprout addresses at activation become unspendable, according to the report.

Zcash ETFs drew 20.52 million USD on October 23

U.S. spot ETFs, funds that hold the underlying cryptocurrency, recorded 20.52 million USD of net ZEC inflows on October 23, according to TokenPost. The report identified the Grayscale Zcash ETF as the product receiving the inflow and placed cumulative net inflows at 204 million USD on October 24.

TokenPost also reported that other tracked altcoin spot ETF markets recorded flat flows on October 23. That comparison describes fund flows rather than direct purchases or sales of ZEC on the broader spot market.
