Strategic plan moves into next phase
On September 29, Alaska Air Group said it was moving its Alaska Accelerate strategy from foundation-building to activation. In a release distributed by PR Newswire, the company said it had captured roughly two-thirds of its $1 billion incremental profit target and remained on track to achieve the full amount by 2027. The target includes $500 million in merger synergies from the combination of Alaska and Hawaiian.
The company said its plan includes premium products, expanded loyalty offerings, cargo growth and a broader international network. Alaska Air Group said it expects to serve at least 15 intercontinental destinations from Seattle by 2030, compared with seven today, while long-haul flying is expected to increase from about 8 percent of capacity to approximately 15 percent.
Premium and network investments
Alaska Air Group also announced new premium experiences for Alaska Airlines and Hawaiian Airlines, including Premium Reserve cabins and fleet upgrades. The company said premium revenue is expected to exceed 40 percent of total revenue by 2030, compared with 35 percent today. Alaska Air Group trades on the New York Stock Exchange under the ticker ALK.
