Sangdong Phase II moves into development
In a September 29, 2026 shareholder letter filed with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, Almonty Industries said it had produced the first bags of tungsten concentrate at its Sangdong mine in South Korea, ready for export. The company also said underground development for Sangdong Phase II was progressing and that it expected the expansion to be completed in 2027. Almonty said Phase II could increase capacity to up to 1.2 million tonnes per year and potentially support annual production of more than 460,000 metric tonne units of tungsten.
Almontyâs investor-relations page records the first tungsten production at Sangdong since 1993 in an item dated September 23, 2026. The companyâs September 29 letter also said it had bought back 2,914,739 common shares for cancellation for approximately US$48 million under its previously announced repurchase program.
