AMD and SiFive demonstrate ROCm on RISC-V platform
On September 15, 2026, SiFive and AMD said they demonstrated AMD ROCm running on SiFive’s BigSky Datacenter Development Platform at the AI Infra Summit. The companies used a demonstration-only system running the Gemma4-E2B large language model with ROCm 10.0, SiFive Performance P870-D CPUs and AMD Radeon AI PRO R9700 GPUs for inference offload, according to the Business Wire release.
The release said the companies would continue evaluating ROCm optimization on RISC-V-powered servers. AMD corporate vice president Ramine Roane described the demonstration as an early step toward enabling developers to explore ROCm-based AI acceleration on RISC-V host platforms, the release said.
