Fitch keeps stable outlook
Fitch Ratings affirmed Antofagasta PLCâs long-term foreign- and local-currency issuer default ratings at BBB+ and kept the rating outlook stable in a report dated September 16, 2026. Fitch Ratings cited Antofagastaâs position as a large copper producer in Chile, its cash-flow record and financial profile.
Fitch expects copper production, excluding ZaldĂvar, to decline to around 610,000 tonnes in 2026 before recovering to about 660,000 tonnes in 2027. The rating agency also identified Centinelaâs second concentrator, the Los Pelambres desalination expansion and a ZaldĂvar water-recycling project among Antofagastaâs current projects. Fitch Ratings said these projects are intended to support production and cost improvements.
