ANZ’s October 6 economic release
In an October 6 release, ANZ said its ANZ-Indeed Australian Job Ads measure rose 2.2 percent month over month in September. The company said the series increased 2.0 percent month over month in trend terms and was 12.3 percent higher annually. ANZ Senior Economist Jasmine Zheng said the series was 24.4 percent above its 2010s average, while the release said labor-market conditions typically respond to softer economic activity with a lag. The release also reported that August unemployment rose to 4.6 percent, employment increased by 39,500 and hours worked rose 0.7 percent month over month. ANZ said it expected job ads to gradually trend lower over coming months.
