Osaka Gas agrees to buy Browse stake
Osaka Gas announced on September 18 that it had agreed to acquire a 5 percent interest in the Browse gas project offshore Western Australia from BP, Reuters reported. The transaction is subject to regulatory and joint-venture partner approvals. Osaka Gas's news listing identifies the September 18 announcement as “Osaka Gas to Acquire Interest in Browse.”
Reuters said the Browse project comprises the Brecknock, Calliance and Torosa gas fields and is in the pre-front-end engineering and design stage. Osaka Gas expects to secure about 550,000 metric tons of LNG per year through its stake, while the project is expected to produce about 11 million metric tons of LNG annually, according to the report.
