In a September 30, 2026 corporate release, Caterpillar said it intends to invest approximately $1 billion in North Carolina to expand manufacturing capacity for its Cat Compact business. The plans include a new facility in Sanford designed to increase production of compact track loaders and telehandlers. Caterpillar said the site is expected to use advanced manufacturing technologies, automation, digital production systems and integrated logistics capabilities.
Agreement to acquire Fabick Cat dealership
Caterpillar also announced on September 29, 2026, that it had entered into an agreement to acquire John Fabick Tractor Company, a Cat dealer serving parts of Missouri and Illinois, all of Wisconsin and Michigan’s Upper Peninsula.
